HEIC to JPG Converter That Also Removes Location Data

iPhones save photos as HEIC, which many websites and Windows apps still cannot open. Most converters upload your photos to a server and copy the metadata, including GPS, into the JPG. BlankAI decodes HEIC in your browser, writes a clean JPG, and lists the location and device fields it left out.

Why most converters keep your location

A typical converter decodes the HEIC and copies its EXIF block into the new JPG, because that is what photographers usually want. That means the GPS coordinates move to the JPG too. BlankAI writes the JPG from pixels only, so none of it carries over, and the report shows what was left behind.

Quality and color

HEIC is decoded once and encoded once as JPEG. Quality 92 is the default; choose Maximum for 100, or Smaller file for 82. Colors are converted to sRGB, which suits the web and most apps.

Converting on an iPhone

In Safari, tap the upload area and choose Browse to pick the original from the Files app. The Photo Library picker may convert the image to JPEG and drop the location before BlankAI sees it, depending on your Options setting. To stop saving HEIC at all, set Settings, Camera, Formats to Most Compatible.

What BlankAI removes, and what it does not

The same rules apply to every file, whatever made it. BlankAI cleans the metadata that travels with a file. It cannot reach anything that is part of the image itself.

Questions

Is HEIC to JPG conversion lossless?

No. JPEG is lossy. At the default quality 92 the difference is hard to see; choose Maximum for the highest quality or PNG for a lossless copy.

Does the JPG keep the date the photo was taken?

No. All metadata is removed. To add a date back, open the JPG in the EXIF Viewer and save a copy with the fields you want.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. HEIC decoding runs in your browser with a WebAssembly decoder.

How many photos can I convert at once?
