Microsoft adds C2PA Content Credentials to images created with Copilot, Designer and Bing Image Creator, a practice it started in 2023. Microsoft 365 adds the credential data even when the visible watermark is off, and the visible watermark is now opt-in. BlankAI removes the credentials and other metadata from a copy.

Images generated in Microsoft 365 apps carry the same credential data when you export them. If you save an image out of a document to reuse it elsewhere, check it first. BlankAI shows whether a manifest is present and what it mentions.
Copilot and Bing Image Creator moved to Microsoft's MAI-Image-2 model in March 2026. The provenance approach did not change.
The same rules apply to every file, whatever made it. BlankAI cleans the metadata that travels with a file. It cannot reach anything that is part of the image itself.
