LinkedIn's “CR” Content Credentials Icon: What It Shows

LinkedIn displays a small CR icon on images and videos that carry signed C2PA Content Credentials. Anyone who clicks it sees the details: the app or AI model that made the file, the recorded actions, and when it was signed. LinkedIn keeps the credential rather than stripping it, so what is in your file is what your network sees.

When the CR icon helps you

A camera-signed photo or a documented edit history can back up your work: a photojournalist's image, a product shot, a design with a clear record of how it was made. If that is why you post, keep the credential.

When you might not want it

A headshot retouched with an AI background tool will show that edit in the panel. A client graphic made with a generator will name the generator. If you would rather not publish the tool chain, check the file first and decide. If the image is AI-generated and presented as real, leave the label on.

Documents and messages keep EXIF

Independent tests show LinkedIn strips EXIF and GPS from public posts, but not from files sent in messages or uploaded as documents. Clean photos before sending them that way.
